Necessary Documentation
At least three months notice of your intended marriage should be given to the priest of the parish where you now reside. He will fill in the necessary forms for you. If you were baptised in a different parish you will need to bring:
- A recent Baptism Certificate
- A Confirmation Certificate if details of Confirmation are not on Baptism Certificate
- Letters of freedom from any other parish you resided in since reaching the age of sixteen Or a Sworn Affidavit from a Commissioner for Oaths.
- Your Priest will fill in a Pre-Nuptial Enquiry Form
- He will advise you regarding any other Permission, Dispensations etc., if they are required e.g. if either party is not a Catholic.

When the couple are living outside Ireland, the Parish Priest of the Bride should send the Marriage Papers to his Diocesan Bishop, who will send them to Most Reverend Bishop Donal Murray, Diocesan Offices, Social Service Centre, Henry Street, Limerick. Previous Marriage:
If you were previously married you will need to supply evidence, certificate of First Marriage, evidence of Church annulment and divorce, or a death certificate in the case of a widow or widower.
