The Eucharist: Communion with Christ and with each other
The 50th International Eucharistic Congress will be held in Dublin from 10th to 17th June 2012. The opening ceremony of the Congress will be celebrated on the afternoon of Sunday 11th June ( Corpus Christi The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ). There is a weeklong programme of events, linking faith and culture, with a particular focus on the gathering of people from every nation, language and way of life around the table of the Lord.
The 50th International Congress is of particular interest to Cratloe Parish. The only other time there was an International Eucharistic Congress in Ireland was back in 1932. The Grotto was put in place by the hard work of the parishioners in that year in preparation for the Congress. We hope to have a special celebration of the 80th anniversary on the last Sunday in May 2012 as the climax of our preparations for the 50th International Eucharistic Congress at the Grotto. People from the other seven parishes in the cluster will come in pilgrimage to the Grotto on that day.
To help us prepare during the year for the Congress take a look at the various resources that are available on the Congress Website www.iec2012.ie When you open the site , click on Pastoral Preparation and you will find some practical suggestions.
