Listening Survey

The Pastoral Council is preparing to deliver a Listening Survey to all the households in Cratloe Parish. The aim of the survey is to give everybody an opportunity to say what they would like to see happening in our Parish. We really want to hear from you. The information gathered will help us to prioritise projects that the people of the parish want to see happening.

To assist us in making sure that surveys are delivered and collected from all households we are asking a group of people to collect from the houses in their neighbourhood.

Monday 13th February, 8.00pm  in the school hall - Distributors/ collectors meeting

to get their surveys and answer any questions.

Monday 20th February – Monday 5th March – Surveys to be delivered and collected.

Monday 5th March -  8.00pm  in the school hall – meeting with Distributors/ collectors to return all surveys.

March – April – collation of information

June – Feedback to Parish

So expect someone to be calling to your door with a survey after 20th February and  coming to collect it from you before 5th March. We would ask you to please take a few minutes to complete the survey and in particular to give us your thoughts and ideas for what you would like to see happening to make our parish a stronger and more caring community.

At present we are short of people to help in the Ballymorris area of the parish. If you live there, or live anywhere else in the parish, and would like to help with distribution/collection of the survey,  please ring Noreen ( 357561) before 13th February.

September - October 2011

In September the Pastoral Council started the year with a review of its work over the last two years. This meeting was facilitated by Noirin Lynch from the Pastoral Centre. It was very helpful to look at what we had done, how we had gone about it and to refocus for the coming year.

At the most recent meeting in October it was decided to aim for distribution of the listening survey  in the Spring. This would mean we would have results before the Summer break and be able to use it to plan for the following year.

The other main focus of this year will be preparations for a celebration around the International Eucharistic Congress which takes place in June 2012 in Dublin. Because of its historical connection with the last Eucharistic Congress, a special celebratory Mass is being planned to take place our Grotto in May 2012.

Lelia Danagher has taken on the role of chairperson of the council, Noreen Ramsay is the secretary, Brede Loughnane will keep a record any parish funds spent by the council, and Margaret Rielly will represent us at the Pastoral Area Team ( a meeting of representatives of the 8 parishes that we are clustered with). We will also have a member attending the Community Council each month.

The youth group continues to grow and Sean Murray is being supported by a group of parents who will help this to develop further. The hospitality group has been unable to provide teas after Mass because of the very poor weather. On the couple of  days when the sun shone it was warmly received. The Eolas group has continued to work on gathering employment/enterprise related information to present on the website and the Cratloe news.

We wish to extend our sincere thanks to those members of the Council who have stepped down this year for all their enthusiasm and hard work over the last couple of years. There are now 3 vacancies. Anyone who is interested in being part of this group is invited to join us.

Our Vision for Cratloe Parish

We strive to ensure that the faith community in Cratloe respects the dignity of each person. This gives a sense of belonging rather than isolation. We hope that all members would be encouraged to take responsibility for the life of the parish, sharing their gifts, talents and resources. Our aim is to cultivate an enthusiastic, cooperative and caring atmosphere within which the spiritual needs of each member are addressed.

The parish family is priest(s) and people working together furthering the mission of Christ and his Church. The focus is the spiritual wellbeing of all parishioners, benefitting parish, diocese and the Church as a whole. We hope that as the Pastoral Council for Cratloe we will help to make this Vision a reality. The Pastoral Council for Cratloe

Our Place in the Diocese

Cratloe Parish is one of sixty parishes in the diocese of Limerick. The diocese is divided into nine pastoral areas. Our pastoral area is the group of eight parishes north of the river in Limerick city - Cratloe, St. Mary's, Corpus Christi, Parteen/Meelick, St. Nicholas', Christ the King, St. Munchin's and Our Lady of the Rosary.

We are represented on this pastoral area team by Father Enright and a member of our Pastoral Council. The team meet four times a year. They update each other on events in the parishes, discuss issues and needs relevant to our pastoral area. Co-operation between the parishes allows for support and sharing of resources. Some events may be organised at a pastoral area level rather in an individual parish. The clergy from the pastoral areas also meet regularly to help each other out.
