Welcome to Cratloe Parish
Cratloe is situated just off the N 18, the road from Limerick to Galway. Although the parish of Cratloe is situated in the Diocese of Limerick, it actually is in the neighbouring county of Clare. It has 650 houses and a population of approximately 2,250. It has two Churches, St. John the Baptist, Cratloe and the Little Church, Sixmilebridge Cratloe Parish.
St. John's Church, a Barn Church built in Penal Times is one of only three remaining Barn Churches in Ireland. It is very popular for marriages with between 100 and 120 couples from many countries getting married in it every year.
The Little Church although referred to as St John, Sixmilebridge in the Limerick Diocesan Directory is one of the few Churches in Limerick Diocese which has no saint assigned to it. Bishop Newman called it the "little gem of Limerick Diocese" when he rededicated it after renovation in 1986.
The parish of Cratloe has a very vibrant Community.
